My Own Little Metropolitan Diary Moment

Dear Diary:

You sure can get a lot accomplished on the 6 train. As I was sitting on the downtown local, a woman sat across from me after entering at 23rd Street. Within moments, she made herself at home – taking off her shoes to reveal bare feet, and eating a stuffed pepper with a sinfully delicious-smelling red sauce. (Oh, to not be constantly counting calories!) Now, if you think it’s hard eating with utensils on the train, don’t worry – she sure wouldn’t know. She was eating that thing like an apple with her bare hands! My mouth watered as she gnawed on the succulent delight, and I only wish I had a napkin to offer her as the savory juices rolled down her arm. She didn’t seem to mind, dabbing her hand on her purse before pulling out a Coke Zero. (A drink I’m no stranger to, one has to watch one’s waist as best they can!) The sly smile we shared when she exited at Bleecker Street after polishing off her meal and putting her shoes back on was between us. The smell of pepper and onions that lingered in the air after she belched her goodbyes to the train car, however, was public knowledge.
